FIRE RESCUE STICKERS

In the Grooming Salon

For years, 'Tot-Finder' stickers have been available to families with children, in case of fire. These stickers, placed prominently in a child's bedroom window, alerts firemen to the fact that children may be trapped inside a burning home. These stickers save time and ultimately live because the firemen know where to locate the children and not need to waste time asking nearby residents.

I once asked a fireman what his feelings were toward pets trapped in a structure fire. His answer was that he and his comrades would certainly enter a building to release animals and would do their best if they positively knew they were there. He added that if no one told them about the pets, they would no way risk their lives to look for them. When asked if he would respond to a fire rescue sticker for animals, similar to the 'Tot' Finders, he said he would. He later left with a hand-full of fire rescue stickers to pass around in his department.

Fire rescue stickers are a great impulse item and should be displayed up front near your reception area or register. The arrival of fire rescue stickers in our shop brought many comments and initial sales, and must confess this is my number one favorite item we sell. Soon after, new customers were coming in just to buy the fire rescue sticker they saw in a neighbor or friends window. Many of these new people became regular clients after being introduced to our shop by one 98 cent sticker.

Contact local fire departments and rescue squads and send them a few samples of your fire rescue stickers so they can recognize them on sight. Members of volunteer fire departments are very popular in small communities and good public relations can send business your way by word of mouth. Also, you may save one of your furry friends' lives.
