Always keep a wide variety of combs, brushes and de-matters in your sales area. Prime customers for such items are the owners of the animal you are now working on or have just finished. Did you have to take off more hair than the owners wanted? Counsel them on the proper coat care for their special breed and sell the right equipment along with your expert advice.

This approach may not work for the overly neglected dog that needs a complete strip instead of a beauty treatment, but the conscientious owner who's been slacking a bit in combing will welcome you sharing tips with him. If he believes he's taken up a lot of your time, he'll feel obligated to make the purchase. If he goes home and uses his new knowledge, your work will be that much easier next time the dog comes in for grooming.

Remember, you will never make the sale unless you have the right equipment on hand so stock a variety.

The products we move the most are slicker brushes combs and flea combs.  Keep these products fully stocked year round and sell only the best. Poor quality tools will break and wear out quickly.  Instead of supporting repeat sales, your customers will go elsewhere for better products.

Some items are seasonal, such as shedding blades which sell best in the spring and fall. We always keep a few of this particular product stocked and load up on them during the prime shedding season. During the off period we may not sell a blade for several  weeks, but once fall months arrive a dozen blades can sell in one  or two days.

Sell the same products you use yourself. A product will sell itself when a customer sees how well it works for you.
